Catch Up!

I'm home and I've been as busy as ever. I have a ton of pictures, but don't worry, I've been busy making collages, so it doesn't seem like quite so much. The last couple of days on Fisher's Island, we had as much fun as possible, we went to the beach, went crabbing, went to pizza/bingo night at the club, and said goodbye to our friends/family. It was very sad to leave that most wonderful Island, and all of my friends, but I hope I can go back someday!

We spent a week at the Keenan's house in Delaware. The girls had art camp that they went to every morning. We went to a couple of cool places, my favorite being the coolest garden place thing that was huge. The lily pads were sweet! We went to their grandparents house to swim and eat a couple times and we went to the mall to get Lucy's ears pierced and to go to cheesecake factory. I also bought my lap top there and was pretty excited for that! My other computer completely died, so I'm still waiting to find out if I can get all of my pictures, music and everything off of it. Hopefully!!

It was a little wierd to be home, and I was not used to a lot of things. It took me a couple of days to get back into the swing of things. My friends made me a cute sign the day I got home, and so did my mom.. but I can't find the picture we took. The best part was being able to see Brad a week earlier than was planned since he came home for a week for a family vacation. We only got to see each other for Saturday night and Sunday morning before he went back to Texas, but it was so much fun! It was a little weird seeing him after almost 4 months of just talking on the phone. We didn't do much, i just loved being with him finally. And, of course I loved seeing everyone else, one of those many people being Lydia- who changed so much! She is such a cute baby. And the car shopping has started for me. Too bad that cute black car just won't do it.

Brad and I got to spend the weekend he got home (the second time) at his family's cabin. It ended up just being his parents and us, but we had a lot of fun! We got there on Friday night, made and ate dinner and played a fun card game. In the morning we had breakfast, me and Brad went three-wheeling, hung out and went to a lunch with everyone else that has cabins up there. We caught 4 mice while there, which was pretty exciting! It was a fun little weekend. On Sunday, I helped Brad move back to Logan. We went to church and then to Grandma's for dinner, then we started school on Monday. Brad bought me a new back pack for my birthday that I love.

This past weekend was a very busy, but very fun weekend. It started off by going camping with all the Skeens, Searles, and Gma. We were in the most amazing place, which we are keeping a secret! ;) We set up our 'four room family vacation home', made our dinner, and played glow-in-the-dark ultimate frisbee on Friday. I was devastated that Lydia wanted my mom and not me. On Saturday, we had a handcart race and the boys played football. We went on a fun hike with everyone and on the way back, we saw a rattle snake. We were sitting in the back of the truck going back to our campsite and Brad heard it off the side of the road. We backed up and were looking at it and then the camp host came down to kill it. He chopped his head off and buried it, then chopped off the rattle to give to Caleb and Jaken. They ended up taking the body in a bag too. It was pretty gross, but a story to tell. I think the part that freaked me out the most was the fact that even after you chop the head off, it can still bite you up to 24 hours, just the head. And the body was still moving even without the rattle or the head. FREAKY!!

On Saturday when we got back, we went to the Aquatic Center to swim, for the first time this summer. And since today was the last day, it was sadly also my last. Me and Brad had fun going down the slide and doing tricks off of the diving board.

Today, for Labor day, we had a delicious breakfast, then went for a bike ride on the river trail. Our friends, Derrick and Kelsey came with us. Then, we went out to the Skeens for lunch and a few games. We went to Zepes on our way home for the best treat ever. Then we headed over to Al's for their big sale and bought a few things. We had dinner, even though we felt like we had been eating all day.

Goodbye

One of my guy friends here took me and Addi paddle boarding last week. It was not as hard as we thought it would be. We thought that we would fall in, but luckily we didn't! It was a beautiful night and Darvil was nice to take us out and take pictures for us.

One day, when we were not going to the beach, I decided that we would go explore instead of sitting at the house. First, we went to town and got some ice cream at toppers. Then we went to this secret garden place that has a really cool tree and a little lake. The girls had fun running around there. Then we went to the museum. It was pretty cool, but we were not there long. The girls wanted to see where the bunker was that my guy friends took me to. Then we headed over to race rock and south beach. When we got home, we washed all 5 cars with the boys. It was a fun, eventful day!

After the beach one day last week, their cousin asked us if we would like a ride in her car, also known as the 'jeepny'. Isn't it awesome?

Halli and her friend enjoy playing with stingray, crabs, jelly fish and making dribble castles when we go to the beach. The stingray was washed up on the beach, crazy huh?

What can I say? I get bored while the girls are playing with creatures!

My last day of church. These are the people who pick us up from the ferry to go to church and let us come to their house after church to eat and hang out. They are such a nice couple and I will really miss seeing them every week.

Goodbye Rocky Ledge!

More Activities

I know, I know.. you are all very surprised to see this. So am I! Especially since it is 1:15am. My computer, and my phone for that matter, both have problems. Sometimes they decide to work, and sometimes they don't. So, I have to take advantage when they do work! I have been very busy having fun this whole summer! I cannot believe that in just one week from tomorrow, we will be leaving this beautiful Island and in 2 weeks from tomorrow, I will be home! It's a good thing that I already have lined up a babysitting weekend with my favorite family in September. And of course I will get to see Brad, and everyone else!

We've done a lot of play-dates with friends. They were playing the laughing game with Halli's friend, Thyrza.

The kids got the 'doggie bowl' at toppers ice cream one day. It actually comes in a real dog bowl! I thought it was pretty funny and they love getting them.

Bachelorette party! So happy that I had friends to watch it with and so happy that she picked Roberto-- love him!! :)

This is the last week of lessons for the girls. They enjoyed, or not so much at times, going to sailing, tennis and golf. And I enjoyed watching them and relaxing.

We come to the big club at least twice a week to eat and play. Halli loves to climb on the rocks and we discovered another beach while doing so. There were so many jelly fish one day, and the kids caught at least 15 and put them on the beach and were playing with them. I was pretty grossed out!

Halli did a glow stick regatta that was pretty sweet, besides the fact that it was not dark. It was fun to watch her sail though and there was a pretty sunset. It did get dark by the time they were done. She had fun decorating her boat and getting glow sticks.

Me and the birthday girl. Lucy turned 10 on Monday.

She had a party with a few friends and they jumped off the dock. It was pretty windy, but they still had fun.

The girls love my friend, Addi, so Lucy invited her to come to her party too.

Yup, that would be the Weymouth boys. Philip, Carter and Jamie... gotta love them!

They played capture the flag, flew a kite and some other fun game in the back yard for a while. It was fun to watch them and a bonus to watch the beautiful sunset!

These would be two of the most awesome, beautiful beaches I have ever been to- Isabella and Chocomount. It is even better that there are never many people there since everybody goes to either Hay Harbor, or the Big Club all of the time. We don't go to them much, but I don't know why!

Angry

I just wanted to let you all know how I am feeling right now. My phone is broken. I don't know if it is my charger, or my actual phone, but it won't do anything. I plug it in and it acts like it is going to turn on, but then turns off again. I have tried everything! Any suggestions on what to do? And on top of that, I got on my computer this morning, and now that is not working either. Everything I click on says that it has a virus. And the worst part is, I was planning on talking to Brad on skype if my phone was still not working, but now we can't even do that! I do not know what to do. I just hope my FI friends are smart and can help me figure it out. I can't go 3 weeks without talking to Brad!

Fun weekend

This past weekend was a busy one for us. On Friday, they had a sandcastle contest at the big club. Me, the girls and their friends did a volcano with coke in the middle. They ate all of the mentos except for one, so it was kinda lame since we needed more and there weren't any left. Freddie helped the boys and their friends make the world cup. The bottom 3 are some other cool ones that we saw. Some people got so creative. It was a fun night.

Later that night, the boys invited us all to go on a hike. Well it turns out that it wasn't quite a hike, since this whole Island is pretty much flat. They took us to an underground military bunker. We had to crawl on our stomachs to get inside the tiny hole. It was kinda cool, but scary at the same time. It was pitch dark and we only had a few flash lights. They led us to a dead end and one of our friends jumped out in a wolf costume and scared us all so bad. We were all so mad at the boys, but it made for a fun night.

On Saturday, there was a cardboard boat race for the kids who go to IPP (kind of like a daycare). Since Jamie goes to IPP, we got to do it. We made our boat and Jamie and Halli were the drivers. I guess we didn't make our sides high enough, because it stared sinking right away. They were good sports about it though and they just tried to keep paddling. It was very funny to watch.

This has been my favorite sunset so far. The sun was huge, although it doesn't look it in the picture, and the clouds were awesome!

Yesterday, it was raining so hard. I had to run out to the car that was right in front of the house to grab something, and I got soaked! On rainy days, we stay inside and play games. We made those fortune teller things, did a puzzle, and Halli played on my phone-- which she loves to do, along with my camera!

Halli had a really loose tooth, and it looked really weird. How is it still connected? I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't just come out. The girls did my hair and makeup this morning, isn't it beautiful!!?

Fisher's Island

For the last week or so, my computer has not been working. I took it to one of my friends to see if he could fix it and he could not.. or so we thought. I turned on my computer yesterday to put pictures from my camera on and it seems to be working fine! For now at least. So I decided I better do a good long post because who knows how long it will last!
This is Dock Beach where we come to swim a lot. It is small, but it is fun to swim out to the dock. At low tide, I can walk the whole way. One time while we were there, we saw 3 horseshoe crabs. I had never even heard of those, so it was pretty crazy to me how big it was!

The big club is the beach that we have a membership for. We can go there to eat, go to the beach, and this is where the girls have tennis and golf. They have two rules: You have to wear a coverup unless on the beach, and no cell phones allowed. The red phone booth is the only place you can use your phone. One day, there was so much seaweed, and the waves were huge!

They have a tiny tramp at the house that all of the kids love to jump on.

The new and improved attic. The girls, Carter, Freddie and I spent about 30 minutes cleaning in the attic from all the toys the little kids had pulled out and not put away. It is nice to have it clean again.

Every Wednesday night, there is a softball game that is between two of the clubs on the Island. Usually we don't end up watching the game at all and we just pull out the camera. Yesterday, me and Addi let the kids write on our arms with a pen. Philip sometimes plays in the games and Carter keeps score. It is pretty fun to go, even if we don't watch much of it.

The next few pictures are just random. Halli and Lucy decided to do a "makeover" to themselves one day, but I thought it looked pretty gross and I didn't let them do it to me! Once a month, they have a craft fair in town. All the little kids make stuff and it is pretty cute. Lucy made coasters, cards, magnets and tacks. I really haven't done the girls hair too often, because they don't really let me, since they are not used to it. This was my first and last attempt to do Halli's. Maybe I'll try it again sometime since everybody loved it! That is Jack and Margo. They are the girls' cousins and were only here for two weeks. I think Margo is so cute. Jack was a handful. One of the clubs does a dance every Thursday night, so sometimes we go to it. Me and Halli all dressed up and ready to go.

Me and Jamie hanging out, he is the cutest boy ever. That is the view of the house from the road, which isn't even half of it. Toppers is where we go for ice cream just about every day! We played the tape on the nose game and the kids thought it was pretty fun.

Top row: their movie theatre, playing on their dock, the roads here that I love to drive on! Middle row: me and the girls playing games, and awesome clouds! :) Last row: the girls getting in "the tank" at Hay Harbor.

Now, there are only a few things that I dislike about this beautiful Island. 1-The girls have yet to finish a game with me. We have tried many games and Lucy gets "bored" with them all. 2-(you can't really tell in the picture, but..) The girls do fight and whine a lot. 3-The speed limit is no more than 30 on the whole Island and if you go even 2 over, you'll get pulled over. Or at least that's what they told me. 4-Everything on Fisher's is so dang expensive. I was thankful for my penny candies that I bought until they melted from being in our non-air conditioned house and tasted nasty. 5-They have the worst mosquitoes here I have ever seen. If you leave the house in the morning or at night without spray, you are just asking for about 10 big bites! But these are all just minor things that anyone can live with. I am actually really loving life right now and it already has been a great experience that I will remember forever!

4th of July

This Fourth of July may be one of my favorites ever. I have always loved the Liberty fireworks and I didn't think anything would ever beat them (you get to lay down and they are right above you-amazing!) but this might have done it, or at least come really really close! On Fisher's, I guess the 4th of July is a really big deal so lots of people come up just for this weekend. Everywhere was crowded but it just made everything more fun.

I started off the day by going to church for the first time here on the Island. Luckily, I had met a couple of the people that I go to church with a couple days earlier so I knew some people before. Natali dropped me off for the 8:15 ferry and I met up with the 8 other people that I will be going to church with. There are 6 girls and 5 of us are nannies and from Utah. The other girl is a lifegaurd from Idaho. And then 3 guys. Everybody is so cool and I already feel like they are all my best friends. We got to New London at 9:00 and someone was there to pick us up and take us to church. Our church started at 10, so we had to wait a while but it was alright. The ward there is so small and I think they have already requested my records. 2 of the guys teach primary so I went with one of them yesterday to help him. It was so much fun and if I get a calling, they said it would probably be in the primary, maybe even just staying and helping him. After church got out at 1, we went to the family's house who picked us up from the ferry. We ate there and played games until we had to leave for our 3:00 ferry.

After we got off, I went with 2 of the girls to one of their houses and we just hung out for a bit and she took me home to change. Then we all met back up again to have a cookout and watch the sunset. It was so awesome. I love the sunsets here, and they are so fun to watch every night.

This is all 9 of us before the fireworks started. We were at a place called dock beach and it was just perfect because they were doing the fireworks on the other side of the water and so the reflection from the fireworks were what made it so amazing. I had a great 4th of July, and first day of church. It was kinda nice to just get away from the house and just be with friends for one day.
